Jojo Siu hails from Philadelphia, and has been working as a designer for film, opera, theatre and dance in Philadelphia, New York, Maryland, California, Santa Fe, Hawaii, Alaska, and Singapore. She has worked with the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, the Santa Fe Opera, South Coast Repertory, Sierra Madre Playhouse, Chapman University, OC Shakespeare Festival, Perseverance Theatre, and Singapore Repertory Theatre, among many others. She is a huge advocate for Asian diversity within theatre, and loves supporting Asian American stories by promoting Asian design aesthetic and supporting Asian artists and projects in her work. She loves stories that incorporate cultural folklore and tradition, and is particularly inspired by her own Chinese heritage and history. She has recently worked on several film projects that are slated to head to the Sundance festival, as well as a new docudrama, Buried, set to premiere on Showtime in October. She’s participated in the Consortium of Asian American Theatres and Artists, and designed for several world premieres, including The Trial of Dedan Kimathi, The Madres, and W.A.S.P. Her repertoire includes Midsummer Night’s Dream, As You Like It, Othello, and Twelfth Night, Importance of Being Earnest, Toys in the Attic, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Evita, Spring Awakening, Eurydice, Waiting for Godot, Joy Luck Club, and Blood Wedding. She teaches both the beginner and advanced costume courses and will be designing for Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime this season at Fullerton College.
