My teaching career began several years ago after receiving my M.A. degree in Art History at California State University, Fullerton and a B.A. degree in Graphic Design from CSUF. Since 2002, I have taught art appreciation classes at CSUF and assisted teaching in a wide range of art history courses. In the summer of 2015, I started teaching at Fullerton College, my alma mater, where I earned my A.A. degree in Advertising Design.

As a former Fullerton College student, I so appreciated the quality of instruction by highly experienced professors, and also their encouragement and motivation. My goal as an instructor is to inspire and make an impact on students by ensuring a well-rounded education. Art is not just for art’s sake, but is interdisciplinary and integrated in other non-arts academic subjects, such as mathematics, science, reading, and writing. I also emphasize to students the ways current socio-economic, religious, cultural, and political situations influence art. I like students to think of the class as a community and to learn from one another through collaborative work. Philip B. Meggs, graphic designer, historian, and author of A History of Graphic Design, believes that, “…if we understand the past, we will be better able to continue a culture legacy of beautiful form and effective communication....”

In addition to my teaching career, I have owned my graphic design business since the 1990s, offering design and marketing services for a wide range of clients, such as the Long Beach City College Workforce Development Program, Southern California Regional Center for 10,000 Small Businesses, Friends Of The Observatory, and The Banning Museum. Prior to starting my own freelance business, I worked as a graphic designer/studio manager for a Los Angeles-based multicultural advertising agency specializing in African American, Hispanic, and Asian markets.
